THE BEACH CAT
STORY
Two Owners, Two Paths, One Dream .... and... a Cat?
Wait, what?!
Prince Sargent of Vicary (AKA BeachCat) is not only our brewery mascot but a story of rebuilding him and rebuilding dreams at Port St Joe. Everyone and everything can be rebuilt with effort, care and time. He has a story to tell and so does Port St Joe! Good stories deserve great beer. Cheers!
Humble Beginnings
My name is BeachCat and here is my story. Everyone has one, you know. Mine started out pretty bleak. I sure never thought of myself as famous. But, there were news stories about my life I didn’t even know were being written. I just recall being about a year old when some people hurt me pretty badly- cut my ear tips off with scissors, broke my tail, and threw me to the cold. They left me walking around broken, beaten, tattered and scared. I never understood why they did that except I think they wanted me to look different or they wanted me to fight with their pit bulls (they used to make them nip at me). I was sweet and never wanted to let them down. I figured this was my lot in life and curled up to pass away. But when I was on my last legs that cold Cleveland day, a nice Policeman picked me up and rushed me to the good people at Forever Friends Pet Rescue and into the capable hands of Linda and Debbie at the Able ER Animal Clinic. It was there I got lots of surgeries and lots of love and attention.
Takes a Village
One day this lady came in and looked at me thru the glass when I was recovering at Able Clinic. And she just kept coming. I kind of wondered what she was doing out there staring at me all the time but I didn’t realize she couldn’t hold me yet. Then one day, she was able to hold me. She seemed so happy that day and I think she cried. She sure loved me! Then she paid my bills and then I went for a long ride. On the way she made a bunch of calls (I think she talks a lot for work) and I could hear different voices in the car. This guy named Matt talked on the speaker about a Paper Mill or something. He sounded different with a cool accent like I never heard before in my life. I was sleepy though and licking my stitches about to doze off. But he got louder talking about his Dad and some fishing in some place called Port St Joe. My ears perked up when I heard fish! Fish? Fish for me? Yum! Anyway,, the lady became my Mom. She said I’d be famous someday and have my name in lights and all the tuna I wanted! And that everyone would know my name. (I had a funny name, Sarge, after my hero Policeman). But my new name was Prince Sargent of Vicary. And that people from all around would come to see me and would raise a glass to me. And that I would be the BeachCat! I kind of liked it. But, I didn’t even know what a Beach was yet. I was a city kitty! I just knew I was safe and that if anything ever happened to her she said she Matt and his family would love me, too. Well, now, I am all healed up and I am a brand new man! My whole life is different. I am well-fed, well-loved and I hang out at the office and everyone loves me and gives me treats. I don’t even have to do any paperwork!
The BeachCat
And now my only job at the Beach will be to pose for the camera and to blog about the BeachCat Brewery coming to Port St Joe, Florida in a short time. Check me out online and I will keep you posted! I will live at the Brewery in the cool In Brewery Suite (that we will also have available for people to spend the night in a real Brewery!). Please come and see me! I cannot wait to meet you all! You have all been thru being beat down and your world snatched from your hands after Hurricane Michael. But like me, you are Blessed and rebuilding! What an oasis we have in Port St Joe and the people are so nice. I can’t wait to be able to be there and I hope you all love me and the owners of the BeachCat Brewery as much as I do!
Stay Frisky, not Thirsty!
